Lavon fondly remembers the neighborhood as a place where children played together, and everyone looked out for one another, making it home.
As a teenager, Maurice Washington thrived in the close-knit Rogers Washington Holy Cross neighborhood of East Austin, where safety and community vividly seen. He fondly recalls the crime-free environment that allowed them to stay out late without worry, gathering at each other’s homes.
